Bulgaria’s Golden Kuker to screen Iranian ‘Tangle’

The Int’l Animation Filmfest- Golden Kuker in Bulgaria is to screen Iranian ‘Tangle’.

The International Animation Film Festival (IAFF) - Golden Kuker Sofia in Bulgaria has scheduled to screen acclaimed Iranian short animation ‘Tangle’.

Directed by Maliheh Gholamzadeh, the animation is a war story narrating the separation of people from their homeland due to war and the subsequent crisis.

It depicts some people who lose their homes in wars and are forced to leave all their memories and loved ones behind.

‘Tangle’ recently won three main awards, including the best director award and the award of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (ASIFA) at the 11th Iran Independent Animation Celebration and the best title award at the 15th International Sretensky Orthodox Film Festival ‘Vstrecha’ in Russia.

The animation has taken part at several global events, including the SPE Media Festival, the 10th We Like 'Em Short Film Festival and the 45th Seattle International Film Festival, all in the US, the 16th Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy, the 14th Taos Shortz Film Festival in the US, the 11th Wimbledon International Short Film Festival in the UK, the 13th Trenton Film Festival in the US, and the 15th Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria where it received the Best Animation award.

Launched in 2010 in Sofia, the Golden Kuker is the first animation film festival in Bulgaria.

The IAFF is a platform to showcase the best of global and Bulgarian animations aiming at promoting the creativity of this art.

This year’s edition of the IAFF will be held online on August 1-5, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This Side, Other Side’ by Lida Fazli, ‘Greyish’ by Eqbal Shirzaee-Sani, ‘Rainy Recollection’ by Masoud Qodsieh, and ‘Mr. Indifferent’ by Aryasb Feiz are the other Iranian representatives at the Bulgarian event.

Iran’s animated short title ‘Am I a Wolf?’ by Amir-Houshang Moeen grabbed Best Short film made for kids award at the 2019 edition of the Golden Kuker - Sofia.
